Adoor Bhavani passes away

Veteran Malayalam actress Adoor Bhavani, best known for her performance in the National award winning Chemmeen (1962) directed by Ramu Kariat, passed away at Pannivizha, near Adoor, on Sunday afternoon. She was 85. In her career spanning more than five decades, she had acted in more than 500 films. She stopped acting after she fell ill six years ago.

She came into films by accident; she was visiting a shooting location along with her sister Adoor Pankajam when popular actor Thikurishi spotted her and offered her a role in Sheriyo Thetto. She accepted the role and there was no looking back for her after that.

In 1969, she got the State award for the second best actress for her performance in Kallichellama. Some of her memorable films include Mudiyanaya Puthran and Thulabharam. She was last seen in Oru CBI Diary Kurripu. Her last rites will be held on Monday with state honours.
