Earlier, the Central Government had permitted online retailers to begin their operations and delivery from April 20 and it came as a good news when it was believed that all items would be available as before, through online retailers! However, a new directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs has revoked the permission to sell all goods and limited it to only essential items. The MHA circular has revoked the earlier permission given to etailers to sell non-essential goods. Now, online merchants like Amazon, Flipkart and the likes can only sell essential items, from April 21st till the end of the Lockdown period, which is till May 3rd.

The Indian government ordered a nation-wide lockdown from March 25th till April 14th, to control the spread of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. This lockdown was further extended till May 3rd, considering the rampant spread of the deadly virus. However, keeping in mind the requirements of the people, the Central Government allowed some relaxations and mentioned that the online retailers could resume business and use vehicles with special permissions to deliver their orders. Now, with the permission revoked for non-essential items, we guess that online platforms would still be delivering essentials like groceries, vegetables, meats and other household essentials.
