Nearly 3 years after her last feature film being Kadaram Kondan starring Chiyaan Vikram, actress and singer Akshara Hassan (younger daughter of Kamal Haasan) is all set to return back to the cine world with the upcoming film titled Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu. Written and directed by debutant Raja Ramamurthy, the film stars Akshara Haasan in the lead along with Usha Uthup, Anjana Jayaprakash, Malgudi Subha, Janaki Sabesh, and Suresh Chandra Menon in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime video as a direct OTT release on March 25.
The film's title loosely translates to "fearful, modest, coy, sexually innocent" and acts as a coming of age story about a quintessential good Tamil girl. The trailer establishes the characters of Akshara Haasan's Pavithra, her outgoing friends, and her conservative family members. Pavithra is portrayed as a naive, innocent and nerdy girl with absolutely close to no knowledge of anything in relation to sex. This indicates that the film will highlight the importance of a pro-sex atmosphere at home and how it helps young adults in the long run.
The trailer seems like it will show Pavithra becoming the subject of ridicule and humiliation due to unknown reasons for everyone, her family, neighbors and others. The film looks like it will touch upon topics like taboo attached to sanitary napkins, masturbation, etc.
Produced by Trend Loud Digital India Private Limited, the Amazon Prime Video Original has been recognized for its making and content at various highly prestigious international film festivals such as HBO’s South Asian International Film Festival, Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival at Boston, Chicago South Asian Film Festival, Atlanta Indian Film Festival, Tasveer South Asian Film Festival at Seattle and the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Canada.
