Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam died in the afternoon hours of September 25 and his demise has left a void in the music industry. The legendary singer was 74 years old. He lost his life after battling with Corona and lung infection for the past 50 days. The fans across the world have been sharing their tribute videos and favourite songs of SPB on social media. SPB is now laid to rest at his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam in Thiruvallur district. Recently, SPB’s son and singer Charan interacted with the press and media to thank the people across the world for standing by his family in the last few weeks. Charan also added that he would be building a memorial house for SPB.

He said, “First and foremost, me and my family are indebted to all the people who were with us for the past 50 days and prayed for father’s recovery. My heartfelt thanks to each and every single person. Father is alright and he is now resting at peace here at our farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam in Thiruvallur district. This incident came as a shocker for me and my family. My sincere thanks to Tamil Nadu Government, Police Officers, Corporation workers, Tahsildar, Local SP and the people of Thamaraipakkam here for their support.

I witnessed people gather in mass numbers on the roads to see my father for the last time and I could see people throughout the journey from Chennai - Thamaraipakkam. I never realised my father’s legacy as SPB and the audience’s love for him. His final ride made me realise what he was to the people. We all knew him as a lovable father, but never got to see the other side of him. I am here to share about the future plans. I have decided to construct a memorial house for my father. SPB was people’s treasure and I want to do something in return for them. As a mark of respect, I want to construct a memorial house that is of International standard which will be an iconic place.

We haven’t started the work yet and the planning process is going on. It has just been three days since his death. I want this memorial house to be a destination place and it will be my way of giving back to his fans across the world. We will share the plan details in another week’s time. A lot of people have also been asking us if they can come and pay their homage to father here. I am talking with the local officials about it and will share details about it in the next few days.
