It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers continue to be below 6000 for the fourth consecutive day! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5875 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 257,613! Of these, 1065 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 101,951! Kancheepuram has recorded 393 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 9785, while 3439 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 15312 total cases of which 2817 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 11352 cases with 2354 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 446 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Kancheepuram registered 393 new cases and Virudhunagar has recorded 337 new cases!
There have been 98 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4132. The number of deaths per day has now been in the high 90s for a number of days running! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 101,951 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 56,998 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,190! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days but today's recoveries are significantly lower than yesterday's! There have been 5517 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 196,483. There have been 60,344 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,779,062 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
