Jyotiraditya Scindia was with the Congress for 19 years before he joined the BJP

A close aide of Rahul Gandhi , it came as a shock to Congress party supporters when Jyotiraditya Scindia, a former minister in the UPA government resigned from the Congress to join the BJP. After his defeat in the 2019 assembly elections, it has been reported that he tried to meet Rahul Gandhi many times but he declined an opportunity.


As his, displeasure grew, he along with his loyalists left the party bringing down the Kamal Nath Government in Madhya Pradesh. Scindia had worked with the party for 19 years and was one of its strongest members. Though many criticised him for his decision,  within a short while after joining the BJP, he won a Rajya Sabha seat and today he joined the Modi government as a cabinet minister. The 50 year old will be the Minister for Civil Aviation.
