The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus has been declared a Pandemic and is mercilessly claiming lives rapidly. Despite a number of preventive measures being in place, the death toll is only increasing, the world over! India is fast emerging as one of the most badly hit countries by this Virus. The latest official stats released by the Health Authorities in India state that there has been a meteoric rise in COVID cases, in the last 24 hours. This past 1 day has witnessed 37 deaths and 896 new cases of COVID, in India. This is the highest ever in a single day, so far, in India.

This sharp increase in COVID positive cases and deaths makes for staggering numbers. In the last 48 hours, India has recorded 1487 new COVID cases, across the country. This news from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, puts the total number of COVID cases in India, at 6761. Of this number, 516 have either been cured, discharged or have migrated while 206 people have lost their lives; leaving the current number of active COVID cases at 6039! With this rapid rise in the number of COVID positive cases in the country, it is highly likely that the Central Government would extend the lockdown period!
