It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,652 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 719,403! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 3,000 cases for the sixth consecutive day today. Good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 756 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 198,487! Kancheepuram has recorded 89 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 25,420, while 435 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 43,316 total cases of which 1,136 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 37,618 cases with 1,056 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 251 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 170 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 148 new cases!
There have been 35 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,053. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 198,487 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 24,886 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 7,628! There have been 4,087 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 683,464. There have been 75,224 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,808,087 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 73,862 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 9,542,700! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
