It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 3,057 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 703,250! After 99 days of continuously recording over 4,000 new cases each day, Tamil Nadu has been recording less than 4,000 cases for the sixth consecutive day today, with the numbers reducing steadily! Of these, 844 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 194,139! Kancheepuram has recorded 87 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 24,873, while 583 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 42,245 total cases of which 1,414 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 36,806 cases with 1,289 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 280 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 186 new cases and Salem recorded 185 new cases!
There have been 33 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,858. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 194,139 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 32,960 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,628! There have been 4,262 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 659,432. There have been 81,472 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,356,580 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 80,051 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 9,099,203! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
