It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,819 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 758,191! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, over the past few days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 502 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 208,668! Kancheepuram has recorded 82 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,750, while 492 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 45,893 total cases of which 908 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 39,619 cases with 840 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 171 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 123 new cases and Salem recorded 87 new cases!
There have been 12 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,478. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 208,668 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 16,441 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 5,098! There have been 2,520 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 730,272. There have been 65,053 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 11,072,885 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 64,213 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,791,896! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
