It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,146 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 748,225! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 3,000 cases for nearly 20 days now. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 577 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 206,024! Kancheepuram has recorded 91 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,358, while 450 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 45,122 total cases of which 887 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 39,100 cases with 981 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 196 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 107 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 104 new cases!
There have been 25 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,387. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 206,024 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 18,709 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 5,819! There have been 2,237 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 718,129. There have been 72,257 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 10,709,256 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 71,511 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,432,314! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
