It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,370 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 739,147! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 3,000 cases for well over 10 days now. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 612 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 203,685! Kancheepuram has recorded 88 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,032, while 402 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 44,607 total cases of which 1,019 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 38,626 cases with 991 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 222 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 143 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 127 new cases!
There have been 27 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,299. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 203,685 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 19,002 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 6,017! There have been 2,402 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 708,846. There have been 80,786 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 10,406,226 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 79,985 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,132,278! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
