It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 724 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 826,261! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 300 in these recent days! 208 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 227,800! Kancheepuram has recorded 21 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,946 and 226 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 50,557 total cases of which 418 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,020 cases with 333 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 76 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem has recorded 48 cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 40 new cases!
There have been 07 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,222. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 227,800 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 7,164 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,182! There have been 857 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 806,865. There have been 64,080 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 14,824,699 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 63,794 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 14,518,178! There are reports that the overall COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
