It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 957 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 816,132! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,500 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 400 in these recent days and finally went below 300 over the past couple of days! 285 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 224,958! Kancheepuram has recorded 25 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,671 and 320 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 49,900 total cases of which 609 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 42,586 cases with 426 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 81 new cases in the last 24 hours, while both Chengalpattu and Thiruvallur have recorded 47 new cases each!
There have been 12 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,092. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 224,958 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 8,747 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,711! There have been 1,065 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 795,293. There have been 64,768 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 14,052,537 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 64,413 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 13,749,877! There are reports that the overall COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
