It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,035 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 811,115! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,500 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 400 in these recent days and finally went below 300 today! 296 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 223,509! Kancheepuram has recorded 30 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,496 and 284 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 49,556 total cases of which 572 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 42,359 cases with 466 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 98 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu & Salem have recorded 64 new cases each!
There have been 12 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,036. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 223,509 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 9,217 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,979! There have been 1,120 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 789,862. There have been 70,993 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 13,730,293 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 70,620 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 13,429,444! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
