It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,052 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 809,014! Today is the second day in months that the number of daily new cases has come down below 1,100! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,500 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 400 in these recent days and is expected to go below 300 soon! 311 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 222,888! Kancheepuram has recorded 43 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,449 and 270 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 49,408 total cases of which 533 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 42,256 cases with 480 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 114 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur has recorded 67 new cases and Chengalpattu has registered 63 new cases!
There have been 17 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,012. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 222,888 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 9,391 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 3,022! There have been 1,139 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 787,611. There have been 65,357 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 13,588,389 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 64,977 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 13,288,290! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
