It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,428 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 784,747! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, since November 13th. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 500 in these recent days! 397 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 216,119! Kancheepuram has recorded 61 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 27,758 and 273 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 47,790 total cases of which 564 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 41,084 cases with 472 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 142 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 99 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 83 new cases!
There have been 11 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,733. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 216,119 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 10,999 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 3,584! There have been 1,398 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 762,015. There have been 68,854 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 12,193,913 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 68,388 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 11,902,345! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
