It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers are continuing to remain steady in the state but the death rate has been increasing and has crossed 100 for the third consecutive day! Today also marks the day with the highest number of deaths for a single day, so far in TN! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5175 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 273,460! Of these, 1044 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 105,004! Kancheepuram has recorded 342 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 10655, while 2846 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 16484 total cases of which 2683 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 11593 cases with 2107 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 487 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 472 new cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 342 new cases!
There have been 112 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4461. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for the third consecutive day, with today marking the highest ever! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 105,004 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 54,184 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,811! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days and again, today's recoveries are higher than the number of new infections! There have been 6031 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 214,815. There have been 61,166 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,953,561 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
