It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers continue to be below 6000 for the third day! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5879 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 251,738! Of these, 1074 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 100,877! Kancheepuram has recorded 368 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 9384, while 3354 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 14866 total cases of which 3049 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 11175 cases with 2297 of them being currently active. Kancheepuram alone has recorded 368 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 305 new cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 314 new cases!
There have been 99 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4034. The number of deaths per day has now surpassed the previous all time high for Tamil Nadu and become the highest for a single day, so far! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 100,877 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 56,738 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,436! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days but today's recoveries exceed the new cases by a huge margin! There have been 7010 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 190,966. There have been 60,580 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,718,718 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
