Uyare, as the title suggests, is a film about an ambitious young girl, Pallavi Raveendran (played by the highly impressive Parvathy) to fly high and become an air pilot as she finds it to be an exciting job when she is a kid. A person she trusted so much, turns her life upside down in an unexpected turn of events. In a matter of a few seconds, her goal in life becomes a question mark. How Pallavi adapts herself back into reality and did she retribute her boyfriend, forms the rest of the plot.

Pallavi Raveendran is an ambitious woman and she is full of dreams. Parvathy aces the character with complete conviction and realism. The magic she weaves with her striking screen presence is neatly captured and more than anything else, you seem to sense life inside the film. You get connected with the characters during the course of the film. Parvathy's natural performance makes you feel empathetic towards the character.

You cry for Pallavi when she is in tears. You feel like motivating her and be beside her when she is low. You cheer for her when she enjoys the high point of her life. You smile at her when people in the flight recognize her work. She is that, one kind of a character who instils a sense of hope for the people who have lost it. It takes a lot of guts and confidence to play the character of Pallavi Raveendran and Parvathy does it with ease. She is the soul of Uyare.

Never in the film, we get to see larger than life characters and so you feel so close to them. A tragic incident happens, but the characters in the receiving end do not turn Herculean, they fight it out with their limited resources and underplay at many junctures.

The mise-en-scene is neatly constructed and staged in an organic way and you don't see any dilution. The heartwarming moments in the film puts a smile on your face at regular intervals. When a flight passenger asks Pallavi, "Can I give you a hug?", that defines humanity on high levels. The positive vibes inside you grow rapidly during that scene. The writing is seamless and the blend of a social angle into a film medium is cleverly done. Kudos to writers Bonny and Sanjay for the spirited writing. Malayalam cinema once again showcases the importance of writing scenes as you are taken through an emotion-filled memorable ride.

Without confined writing, this wouldn't have been possible. The sexism and male chauvinism are explored through Govind's character, who couldn't take the fact that Pallavi is achieving a lot more than he could. It is also done in a subtle yet impactful manner. The toxic relationship dealt with in this film stands out from other mainstream films, as you get to see this from a woman's perspective in this film.

The supporting actors also throw the positivity with their warm presence. One would love to have a friend like Saria who is there for you whenever you need. Tovino adds more light to the film with his vivacious acting. He is a valuable addition to the film, something similar to that of Fahadh Faasil's character in Take Off. His friendship with Parvathy is pleasing. Siddique as Parvathy's father is an impressive casting and he is 'Father Goals'.

Gopi Sundar's music warms you up for an intense ride right from the title card sequence, but as the film progresses you're able to figure out an incompatibility in the re-recording. The visuals look polished and picture perfect for most parts. The pre-climax sequence especially deserves applause and it is neatly executed. Mahesh Narayan's editing comes in handy and it looks unblemished.

Director Manu Ashokan should be credited for not allowing this film to divulge into melodrama. In the amassing line up of emotional films, when even the smallest of the happenings are shown in an exaggerated manner, here, Uyare decides to stand tall with the right mix of emotions. The film also emphasizes the co-existence of different people in the same society. In the end, the film will leave you with all smiles and tell you that it is okay to be different from others.

VERDICT: Uyare will give you an emotional high and make you more ambitious! Do watch it!
