Telugu actress and YouTuber Sarayu Roy was arrested on Monday based on an FIR filed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Chapuri Ashok for hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community and its followers by imitating them in a wrongful manner. According to reports, the complaint was filed from the Sircilla district against the popular anchor, who is known for hitting the headlines for her controversial and explicit statements on her YouTube channel. In his complaint, Chapuri had shown the video content to officials at a local police station, who then transferred it to the Banjara Hills Police station in Hyderabad.
Reports say the alleged video was uploaded on Sarayu's YouTube channel and was shot with the actress and a few others, who appeared to be wearing saffron headbands with the 'Ganapati Bappa Moriya' slogans printed on them. In his complaint, the VHP president has sought for tough action against the controversial YouTuber for posting such content on social media on a regular basis. This is not the first time Sarayu's name has been embroiled in a controversy after she earlier used abusive language against the character Seetha in one of her short films.
On the work front, Sarayu participated in Bigg Boss Telugu season 5, but failed to make an impression and was the first contestant to get evicted from the show. Outside of her work on her YouTube channel and Bigg Boss Telugu 5, she has also made a few notable appearances in films like the Suman-starrer Tholi Parichayam (2016) and the 2021 web series titled 3 Roses, which had Payal Rajput, Shamna Kasim and Eesha Rebba in the lead roles.
