Leading Bollywood actress Yami Gautam Dhar on Monday revealed that she is suffering from a skin condition called Keratosis-Pilaris and shared a few close-up photos of herself on Instagram. Penning a heartfelt note, Yami stated that she has been conscious about her condition for years and finally decided to "embrace" her "flaws" She wrote, "I recently shot for some images and just when they were about to go in for post-production (a common procedure) to conceal my skin-condition called Keratosis-Pilaris, I thought, 'Hey Yami, why don't you embrace this fact and accept it enough to be okay with it. Just let it be... (Yes, I do talk out loud to myself)."
Revealing that she had the skin condition since her teenage days, Yami Gautam said, "For those who haven't heard about this, it's a skin condition wherein you get tiny bumps on the skin. I promise they aren't as bad as your mind and your neighbour aunty makes it out to be.) I developed this skin condition during my teenage years, and there is still no cure for it." The actress stated that she is now ready to deal with the "insecurities" and said, "I've dealt with it for many years now and today finally, I decided to let go of all my fears and insecurities and found the courage to love and accept my 'flaws' wholeheartedly. I also found the courage to share my truth with you. Phew!" Yami concluded her post saying, "I didn't feel like airbrushing my folliculitis or smoothing that 'under-eye' or 'shaping up' that waist a tiny bit more! And yet, I feel beautiful." Yami Gautam, who married Hindi film director Aditya Dhar in June this year, has faced criticism in the past for endorsing skin products promoting fairness after she revealed about considering stepping back from having her name on advertisements. Starring in the 2019 film Bala, which dealt with issues of premature balding and a fixation for fair skin color, the actress said at the time that ditching a brand is not going to be a permanent solution, while adding that the greater goal would be to change perception. Yami is best known among Tamil cinema fans for starring opposite Jai in the Gautham Menon-produced venture, Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum, including acclaimed director Radha Mohan’s Gouravam.
