A film that left fans delighted back in 2015 was the sci-fi comedy, Indru Netru Naalai, which marked the directorial debut of R. Ravikumar. Post the film turning out to be a critical and commercial success, a sequel titled, Indru Netru Naalai 2 was announced last year with reputed producer turned director CV Kumar returning to bankroll the project under his Thirukumaran Entertainment banner. The upcoming venture was announced to see Vishnu Vishal and Karunakaran reprising their roles from the original film with director R. Ravikumar this time serving as a screenwriter and his associate SP Karthic making his directorial debut.
Announced last year on June 26 on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the original film's release, Thirukumaran Entertainment has now dropped an update saying the scripting work for the forthcoming Indru Netru Naalai 2 is in its final stages. The production house further added that director R. Ravikumar, who is the screenwriter for the sequel, had sent the first draft of the script yesterday morning (March 25) while adding that the writing has been delayed owing to the complexity of the story and also because he's been busy working on his own upcoming magnum opus sci-fi film, Ayalaan, starring Sivakarthikeyan and featuring music by A. R. Rahman. Producer CV Kumar's banner concluded saying the script is hilarious and will serve as definite feast for the audience. Check out the tweet below:

Mia George, who played the female lead in the first Indru Netru Naalai film, was revealed to not be appearing in the sequel, with another heroine expected to be cast. Indru Netru Naalai 2 will see Ghibran composing the music and Dinesh Krishnan handling cinematography with production yet to kick-off after initial plans to begin in September last year. It also remains to be seen whether the story will pick up from the events of the end of the first film or if it will end up being a direct sequel to the 2015 original.
