'Thalapathy' Vijay's Master directed by Maanagaram and Kaithi fame Lokesh Kanagaraj has turned out to be a staggering box office success and has rung in the new year on a high note for theatre owners and those in the film trade, who have declared it to be the first big blockbuster of 2021. Produced by Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators, with Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios handling the distribution, Master featuring chart-buster music by Anirudh Ravichander also includes 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi in the role of a menacing antagonist, whose chemistry alongside Vijay on the big screen turned out to be electrifying leaving fans of both superstars wanting for more.
As Master continues to witness a strong showing in theatres, the mass masala action entertainer began streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 29, with the film getting a wider reach and audiences watching it on a repeat basis at the comfort of their homes. With the film a month into its theatrical run, promotions are still being carried forward, with the "Polakattum Para Para" video song that is featured on Vijay as the college professor/juvenile jail master John Durairaj on a hunt for Vijay Sethupathi's Bhavani has now been released officially on YouTube.
"Polakattum Para Para" in Master has been sung by hit composer Santhosh Narayanan to the lyrics penned by Vishnu Edavan and comes as the film nears its action-packed climax. The song shows Vijay Sethupathi planning to attack Vijay, who instead has launched a hunt of his own. The song had turned out to be a chart-buster prior to the film's release ever since it came out in the Master album in March last year, with Santhosh Narayanan's raw and rustic voice turning out to be a big USP for the track. The response to the songs in Master has come as a big happy news for composer Anirudh for whom it is his second successful outing with both Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi after their Kaththi and Naanum Rowdydhaan.
Master's phenomenal response was long-anticipated as the film had to be held back from its theatrical release in April last year due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The feedback to Master has not only come as a big delight to the entire team of Master, but also theatre owners who have breathed a big sigh of relief as the film has revived the business and trade, including the movie-watching experience on the big screen among fans.
