There’s less than a week for the much-awaited Bigil starring ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay to hit screens on October 25 across the world. An action sports drama, the film is director Atlee’s third-time teaming up with Vijay after their Theri and Mersal and this time under the AGS Entertainment banner with music by Oscar winner, A. R. Rahman. With Vijay set to be seen in dual roles as father and son and as the coach of a women’s football team in the film, fans await an out-and-out entertainer when it arrives in theatres later this week. That said, Bigil has been embroiled in a plagiarism controversy over the past few months after assistant director KP Selvah leveled allegations against director Atlee claiming the film’s story was written by him. With the film since then seeing various developments and the case since then being directed to a higher court, a new verdict is awaited, which is expected to come out today (22.10.2019). Meanwhile, the CEO of AGS Cinemas, Archana Kalpathi, who is also serving as the Creative Producer on Bigil, had taken part in a live chat with fans on Twitter earlier today.
During her interaction with fans, Archana Kalpathi was asked her opinion regarding the Bigil story theft controversy for which she replied saying, “Yes, the case has been going on for a while and a judgment will be made today evening. I am hopeful justice will finally prevail despite all that has been said about our film”. There is massive anticipation for Bigil as Archana Kalpathi went on to reveal many more interesting details behind the production, pre-production and post-production works that have been carried out so far including decisions they will be making to promote the film furthermore after it is out in theatres.
Archana Kalpathi stated, “Promos for Bigil will be out starting today on television, online and all forms of media with bookings for the film at all AGS Cinemas multiplexes to go live starting today. In addition, the Tamil Nadu government has allotted four shows everyday and we shall try to bring additional shows in our multiplexes everywhere. I would like to add beforehand that the tickets will open in red online since most of them will be distributed to the families of the cast and crew who have worked in the film. Likewise, the release pressure has been extremely high as we have planned to bring both the Tamil and Telugu version (Whistle) on the same date as a Diwali treat. As for the theme music in the film, A. R. Rahman sir has worked exceptionally well on the re-recording score which will stand out in many places throughout the course of the narrative as there is no specific theme track for now. I want to add that Bigil will be releasing in a total of 4000 to 4200 screens worldwide and no plans for a 1AM screening have been planned at AGS Cinemas for now,”.
