Composer-turned-actor Vijay Antony's teen daughter Meera was found dead at their residence in Alwarpet, Chennai, in the early hours of September 19. The 16-year-old's death left the Tamil film fraternity and fans in a big shock. With Vijay Antony and his family still grieving, the music director on Thursday, September 21, posted a heartbreaking note on social media remembering Meera. His statement in Tamil reads, "My dear people, my daughter Meera is an affectionate and bold girl. She has now gone to a peaceful world where there is no caste, religion, money, jealousy, pain, poverty, or spite. She is still speaking with me. I too have died with her. I have now begun spending my time with her. I will now carry out good deeds on her behalf and she will kickstart them. Yours Vijay Antony"
According to reports, Meera, a class 12 student at a private school, had gone to bed after dinner on Monday night and was found dead in her bedroom at around 3 a.m. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on her arrival. Meera's mortal remains were then sent to the Omandurar Government Hospital where the autopsy report confirmed that she died by suicide. Her mortal remains were then brought to Vijay Antony's residence where several Tamil cinema personalities paid their last respects and consoled the family. Meera's funeral happened on the morning of September 20 and her mortal remains were laid to rest as per Christian traditions at the Kilpauk Cemetery. Many people have expressed their condolences to Vijay Antony and his family offering them words of support in their hour of grief.
