A film that has created a massive hype among Telugu cinema fans ever since its announcement in late 2019, the remake of Tamil blockbuster Asuran under the title of Narappa with veteran superstar Venkatesh Daggubati is currently one of the most-awaited ventures in recent times. Directed by Srikanth Addala, Narappa has been jointly produced by Suresh Productions in association with Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, with Venkatesh taking to social media on Monday to drop a massive announcement regarding the upcoming action drama's release.
Announcing that Narappa will be heading for a straight OTT premiere on July 20 on Amazon Prime Video and skipping a theatrical release due to the pandemic, Venkatesh has tweeted, "All my well-wishers and fans have been eagerly waiting to watch our film, #Narappa. Your love towards this film has been overwhelming for me and the team, who always ensured to go an extra mile just like Narappa." This news might come as a disappointment for some, who were hoping for the film to come out in theatres, especially after there were a few reports stating that one fan went on a hunger strike a few days back protesting its OTT release. Expectations for Narappa are huge considering the original Tamil film starring Dhanush under Vetri Maaran's direction went on to become a box office blockbuster. Asuran earned Dhanush his second National Award for Best Actor, with the film also winning the award for the Best Feature Film in Tamil.
Narappa is based on the screenplay written by Vetri Maaran and all sights are on what Venkatesh is going to offer fans when it premieres in the next few days on Amazon Prime. Joining Venkatesh is Priyamani, who is reprising Manu Warrier's role, with Mani Sharma scoring the music, Shyam K Naidu handling the cinematography and Marthand K Venkatesh taking care of the editing. It is to be noted that a teaser promo for Narappa was released towards the end of last year showing Venkatesh in action mode going after the wrongdoers, with the visuals receiving a thumping response. With the latest release announcement from the actor, we can expect the much-awaited Narappa trailer in the days ahead.
