Actor Vemal had his big break in Cinema with the 2009 Pandiraj directorial Pasanga, after a number of movies as a junior artiste and quite a few movies with uncredited roles! In his about fifteen-year career, Vemal has had quite a few ups & downs and was last seen on screens in the 2019 movie Kalavani 2, the sequel to his blockbuster 2010 hit Kalavani! With the entire world battling the COVID-19 Corona Virus and trying hard to keep themselves safe, Vemal has gone a step further and gotten down into the field to keep his entire hometown safe!

A native of the Pannankombu village near Manapparai in Trichy District of Tamil Nadu, Vemal has gotten together with his village youth, his fans and the sanitation workers of the area to spray virus killing medicines in all the most vulnerable areas around the village. A photo of Vemal himself handling the spraying equipment and going around to sanitise the locality in his hometown has been spreading on the internet! It is indeed a great gesture on Vemal's part to work for the society, in trying times like these, when the Central Government has ordered a 21-day lockdown to prevent the spreading of the Corona Virus.
