Director Vasanthabalan is known for his acclaimed hard-hitting films like Veyil, Angadi Theru, Kaaviya Thalaivan, Aravaan, etc. He is currently awaiting the release of his next film, Jail, that stars G.V.Prakash Kumar and Enga Veettu Mappillai fame Abarnathi in the lead roles. In a recent live interaction with Galatta Media, Vasanthabalan heaped praise on the performances of the lead actors. He said, "GV's performance in Jail will stand out and be talked about. You will definitely see a difference, something that you haven't seen in his previous movies.
He has played a character called Karuna. He has done it so naturally that you'd never see GV Prakash anywhere. Since we both have a comfort zone, it was easy to mould him and make him do what the character demanded". Similarly, talking about Abarnathi, he said, "Tamil cinema is going to get another talented performer like Anjali. Abarnathi has played the role of a woman who sells biriyani for her livelihood. Pichutta. She's done it wonderfully.
What you saw in Anjali's performance in Angadi Theru, the same impact would be there in Abarnathi's performance. She will reach bigger heights after this film. She would steal the show. I told her that there is a liplock scene in the film. She surprised me and asked how many lip locks are there in the film as she was ready for it, knowing that the story demanded it." Vasanthabalan, while talking about the film, said that Jail will deal with a global problem that is told in a commercial pattern. You can check out the live video here:
