'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu continues to be the talk of the town ahead of its theatrical release scheduled for Pongal in January 2023. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the upcoming film billed to be a packaged family entertainer is being released in Tamil Nadu by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios and expectations are huge for a massive opening. With post-production works currently underway in full swing, Dil Raju recently in a recent media interaction with a Telugu news channel opened up about Varisu in detail and also went on to reveal the stars who were initially approached for Vijay's role.
Reportedly, Dil Raju stated that Vijay's role was penned with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in mind, who was later offered the role, but had to let go due to his other film commitments. The role then went to RRR star 'Mega Power Star' Ram Charan, who as well could not sign up for the part as his dates clashed with his other projects. Pushpa actor Allu Arjun was then approached for Vijay's role in Varisu, including Baahubali star Prabhas, both of whom had to let go of the opportunity due to their prior film commitments. Dil Raju revealed that Vijay had then boarded Varisu and the film has since been revealed to be coming out in Telugu as well under the title Vaarasudu for Sankranthi alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy on January 12, while 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya is coming out a day later on January 13.
Vijay and Dil Raju have collaborated for a venture together for the time with Varisu after the producer previously acquired and distributed the actor's Beast in Telugu earlier this year. The film has the superstar paired with national sensation Rashmika Mandanna for the first time and their on-screen rapport is one major USP fans are looking forward to witnessing on the big screen. Promotions for Varisu featuring music by Thaman. S is in top gear and the response to the first two songs - 'Ranjithame' and 'Thee Thalapathy' have been nothing short of sensational.
