Tamil comedy superstar Vadivelu announced his return to films once again and will be teaming with director Suraj for a venture titled Naai Sekar to be produced by Lyca Productions. The upcoming project, which will be their fourth collaboration after Thalai Nagaram (2006), Marudhamalai (2007) and Kaththi Sandai (2016), will see the comedian sharing screen space with a dog in Naai Sekar, Suraj said at the press conference on Friday. The hit director also confirmed that the film will also have a leading actress, but will not be paired opposite Vadivelu.

Loving called as 'Vaigai Puyal', Vadivelu, who was last seen on the big screen in 2017 in the 'Thalapathy' Vijay blockbuster Mersal, was queried during the press conference on the status of Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi, which was launched in August 2017 under director Shankar's S Pictures banner with Chimbu Deven announced to direct the film. Vadivelu cleared the air about joining hands with Shankar once again and stated that he will not be working with the director, while adding that he is not a part of the sequel to 2006's Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi. In response to his future projects, Vadivelu confirmed that he is currently in discussion with Raghava Lawrence and director P. Vasu for Chandramukhi 2, including a film each with 'Action King' Arjun and Sivakarthikeyan.

Speaking about the hiatus from working in films, Vadivelu said that he has endured a lot during the period saying, "People call me 'Vaigai Puyal', but my life was wrecked by a hurricane." Extending his gratitude to producer Subaskaran of Lyca Productions for granting him a new lease of life, the iconic comedian said, "Going forward, my journey in life will be filled with laughter and my mission is make people happy as long as I'm here." He also said, "The entire world and the film industry has suffered a lot over the past two years due to the pandemic and I want to thank all the people who have given me this life. I also want to thank Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for doing all that he has done for everyone."
