Leading Tamil director Mari Selvaraj participated in a special event conducted by Dhanush fans on Wednesday in Chennai. The hit filmmaker, who is known for his films Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021), is getting ready to present his next big venture, Maamannan, which has Udhayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, with 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu, Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil, among others in pivotal roles, and will feature music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. Speaking to media persons, Mari Selvaraj opened up on the release plans of Maamannan, while also talking about the impact he hopes the film will make in the society.

Addressing the press, Mari Selvaraj said, "Maamannan has entered the final stages. The release date is expected to be announced soon this week. It will be an important film in Tamil cinema. In my career, it is a venture that has been made with leading artistes and will be a grand film. Apart from that, it will talk about the current politics and is a film that I have made as I have wanted to." Regarding the impact Maamannan will create, Mari Selvaraj said, "I don't know as I myself am waiting. Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan were films made out of pain. I had planned to make them. But, I have made Maamannan as a statement, as a question, and how this query is received by the audience will be known only after the film comes out." Upon being asked about the performances of the actors in Maamannan, Mari Selvaraj added, "Vadivelu sir, Fahadh sir and all differ strikingly. To watch them in the same frame was a big moment of happiness because Vadivelu sir, Fahadh sir, Udhay sir, Keerthy, are seen in different genres and to bring them all together in a single frame and set them under a common emotion will definitely be a big experience for those watching the film."
