'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu is all set to invade screens in January 2023 as a grand Pongal release and the excitement has gotten bigger after a new poster from the film was released on Monday, October 24, as a special Diwali treat. Touted to be a wholesome family entertainer, the upcoming film wrapped up filming recently and post-production works are currently underway. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, it has now also been officially confirmed by popular stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan that he too is a part of Vijay's Varisu.
Dhilip Subbarayan tweeted out his excitement at being a part of Vijay's Varisu and informed fans that the film will include massive action after the duo worked in the 2016 box office blockbuster, Theri, directed by Atlee. The action director took to Twitter and wrote, "After #theri working with Vijay sir full fun & intense action sequences in #Varisu". Dhilip Subbarayan's words have sent Vijay's fans into a state of elation considering his work in Theri was well-received and many expect him to top it off in Varisu as well. Based on his latest statement and the emphasis on the action sequences being intense and fun-filled, it will no doubt raise curiosity as the Varisuspecial poster for Diwali showed Vijay going full-out in taking on the bad guys. Expectations for Vijay’s Varisu are massive as it has been revealed that it will be a family entertainer along the lines of Poove Unakkaga (1996) and Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), and it will be interesting to witness him in a role that is catered more toward family audiences. National sensation Rashmika Mandanna is playing the female lead in the film, which also has an ensemble supporting cast among whom include Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Shaam, Sangeetha Krish, Srikanth, Bigg Boss 4 fame Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, including art director D. R. K. Kiran, while SJ Suryah is also speculated to be making a special appearance. Varisu will feature music by Thaman, who recently teased the first single's release soon, which is expected to be coming out sometime next week.
