'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo is progressing at a steady pace towards the finish line and production is expected to come to a close soon. Billed to be an action-packed gangster drama, the upcoming film being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj features music composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander and is the trio's second time collaborating after their blockbuster, Master (2021). With the first single from Leo 'Naa Ready' released on Vijay's birthday last week topping the charts, a police complaint was filed against the Tamil superstar for allegedly promoting drug abuse, consumption of alcohol, and smoking in the song.

Controversy erupted over Vijay consuming alcohol and dancing in the song with a cigarette in his mouth in the 'Naa Ready' song, with the Leo team on Tuesday evening adding a 'smoking causes cancer' disclaimer to the lyric video. Fans have applauded the team for their prompt action in addressing the concerns over the issue, with their latest move also indicating that no sequences will be removed from the film. Penned by Vishnu Edavan, 'Naa Ready' from Leo released as a special treat on the occasion of Vijay's birthday on June 22 climbed to the top of the charts crossing 30 million views on YouTube alone, and is also now the second most-liked Tamil film song lyric video of all-time in a span of 24 hours.

Announced to hit screens worldwide on October 19, Leo is being produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios, with the film's U.K. and Europe theatrical rights recently acquired by the Ahimsa Entertainment banner. The film will see Vijay and leading actress Trisha reunited on the big screen once again after 15 years and fans look forward to witnessing their magical chemistry after they ruled the 2000s by starring in Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), and Kuruvi (2008). Vijay's Leo also has an ensemble star cast that includes Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist, while 'Action King' Arjun, Mysskin, Gautham Menon, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy master, Mathew Thomas will be seen in key roles.
