'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo is en route to take a sensational start when it opens in cinemas worldwide on October 19 as the early buzz in the trade suggests it has all the makings of a massive box office blockbuster. Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has directed the upcoming mass action drama while collaborating with directors Rathna Kumar and Deeraj Vaidy for the dialogues, who sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to share their inputs on what the first half and the second half of the film are going to be like. Rathna, who previously collaborated with Lokesh Kanagaraj on the dialogues for Vijay's Master (2021) and Kamal Haasan's Vikram (2022), revealed that Leo is going to be an explosive viewing experience in theatres.
Ratha Kumar said in his explanation about Leo, "The first half of this film is like lighting an atom bomb firecracker. You must have seen how the fire on the string on a firecracker after being lit will speed up, but suddenly slow down like it's going to stop. It'll keep us hooked on the tension leaving us in suspense, and then explode at the last moment. Whereas, the second half of Leo is like setting a firecracker shop on fire. The last forty minutes that Lokesh has described will be like a firecracker shop being set on fire where all the crackers will explode in all directions."
Rathna Kumar gained popularity for directing films Meyaadha Maan (2017), Aadai (2019), and Gulu Gulu (2022), while Deeraj Vaidy introduced himself to Tamil cinema audiences with Jil Jung Juk (2016). Leo marks the second time Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and composer Anirudh Ravichander have worked together after their Master, and the excitement for the film has been massive right from the get-go. Vijay is paired with Trisha Krishnan in Leo, with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Mysskin, and Sandy master cast in negative roles, while Mansoor Ali Khan, Gautham Menon, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, Iyal, among others making appearances in key roles.
