A film awaited by ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay fans everywhere amidst massive hype and expectations, Bigil, under director Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment at a budget of Rs. 180 crores featured music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. With the film now in its fifth day of its theatrical release, Bigil has reportedly grossed over Rs. 150 crores and is going strong across the world. The action sports entertainer incidentally is the fourth film for Vijay to enter the Rs. 150 crores club after Theri, Mersal and Sarkar and, is now en route to hit the illustrious 200 crores mark, which fans and industry trade analysts expect to achieve over the course of the next few days. Released globally last week on October 25, the film had also come out on top as the No. 1 winner in India, as a whole and has been performing exceptionally well (based on the box office and crowd turnout) in the North Indian states in comparison to the Diwali releases.
Bigil is Vijay’s third straight Diwali release after Sarkar last year and Mersal in 2017 with a stunning opening world over and has been receiving plenty of appreciation for the plot centered around a sport that is gradually catching up with the masses in Tamil Nadu. Vijay too has been basking in admiration for giving a power-packed performance in a role that makes him take the backseat at some of the most crucial moments in the film, which has been packaged with plenty of action, comedy, sentiment and drama. Apart from Vijay, Bigil includes a huge star cast featuring Nayanthara Kathir, Vivek, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, IM Vijayan, Indhuja, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Vivek, Yogi Babu, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha Iyer, Soundararaja, Gayathri Reddy, Devadarshini, ‘Thaadi’ Balaji, Dheena among others in important supporting roles.
