'Thalapathy' Vijay's next big film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, flagged off production with a pooja ceremony on Monday, October 2, and will be directed by blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. With production underway, it has now been revealed that the upcoming venture featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja "will be a high-octane action film". Fans have also been informed that all updates regarding the cast and crew of Thalapathy 68 will be officially announced after the release of Vijay's highly-anticipated Leo opening in cinemas worldwide on October 19.
Yesterday, Venkat Prabhu made the announcement of Thalapathy 68 going on floors assuring fans that it is going to be a "fun roller coaster ride", while extending his heartfelt gratitude to all of them for their wishes. Sharing an announcement poster with the text "OCTOBER BEGINS" and the alphabets T and BE highlighted and denoting T68, the Mankatha director posted on X, "And it began!! #Thalapathy68 with all ur love and wishes!!! This is gonna be a fun roller coaster ride!! And all pics and updates after namma #Leo release!! ðð½ðð½ðð½ God is Kindâ¤ï¸" (sic)
Earlier in September, Venkat Prabhu addressed the media's queries about Thalapathy 68, with the filmmaker revealing that the film would not have any political theme. The director along with Vijay had also traveled to Los Angeles, California, last month to reportedly discuss with the team at the USC Institute of Creative Technologies regarding the use of a 3D VFX scan technology called Light Stage, which allows for capturing digital images and replicates 3D version of the subjects that can later be used along with motion capture technology. With Vijay and Venkat Prabhu going the extra mile during the pre-production stages for their Thalapathy 68, there is much excitement among the fans regarding the scope of the film, which will be coming out in theatres in a grand manner in 2024.
