National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Thalaivii, a biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, which has been announced for a worldwide theatrical release on September 10 on the auspicious occasion of Vinayagar Chathurthi. With promotions for the upcoming pan-Indian film directed by blockbuster Tamil director A. L. Vijay already being carried out in an extensive manner, Kangana paid her respects to J. Jayalalithaa at her memorial at Marina Beach in Chennai on Saturday morning ahead of Thalaivii's release in next week. Seen in a bright orange saree, the Queen heroine was joined by A. L. Vijay and a few others who visited the memorial to pay their tributes to the late stateswoman, with pictures and videos now trending on social media.
Expectations for Thalaivii have been massive right from the get go as the film made as a Tamil-Hindi bilingual and dubbed in several languages will see Kangana Ranaut as J. Jayalalithaa, with Arvind Swami portraying legendary actor and late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran, popularly known among the masses as MGR. Featuring music by G. V. Prakash Kumar, promos for a few songs have already been released and received a positive response as fans have given a double thumbs up to the tunes and the visuals that take us back to the golden years of Tamil cinema.
As of now, Thalaivii is expected to premiere on two leading OTT platforms after a gap of four weeks from its theatrical release, with an official statement being awaited. Apart from the lead pair Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami, Thalaivii includes a stellar supporting cast featuring names like Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Poorna, Madhoo, Bhagyashree in pivotal roles, while legendary writer KV Vijayendra Prasad has penned the screenplay.
