Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is the man of the hour as his latest big film, Leo, starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release starting tomorrow, October 19. In light of the upcoming mass action drama film's release, the hit director took part in a media interaction on Wednesday in Chennai where he was also queried about his next project, the tentatively titled Thalaivar 171 with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, which will include music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander and action by National Award-winning stunt choreographer duo Anbariv. Upon being asked whether Thalaivar 171 will be a multi-starrer, Lokesh Kanagaraj gave a positive acknowledgment, while sharing that Kamal Haasan was the first person to call and extend his wishes after the Rajinikanth-starrer was offiically confirmed.
Talking further Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 171, Lokesh stated, "It will not be in the genre I've done before. It will be in a different mode. And obviously, when Irumbu Kai Maayavi comes out, it will be set in a different genre. Since I like action storytelling a lot, I'm doing films under that excitement." Upon being asked whether he's under any pressure because Thalaivar 171 is going to be a standalone film and will not be set in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), Lokesh Kanagaraj said, "I don't have any pressure when it comes to filmmaking unlike when during the release time of a film. I was supposed to meet you earlier, but I'm interacting with you all now because of Leo's release works. Other than that, here's no pressure when it comes to making the film and it's quite fun."
There is massive excitement surrounding Thalaivar 171 as fans have been waiting for the Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj combo to become a reality for quite some time now. With Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo set to finally release in theatres tomorrow, the director will be looking to get back to finishing the pre-production work for Thalaivar 171 next. On the other hand, Rajinikanth will begin filming for Thalaivar 171 with Lokesh Kanagaraj after he wraps up shooting his ongoing Thalaivar 170 under Jai Bhim fame T. J. Gnanavel's direction.
