In what is undoubtedly one of the biggest casting announcements of Tamil cinema in 2023, the 'Shahenshah' of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan has now boarded 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's next big project, the tentatively titled Thalaivar 170. The team of the upcoming project dropped the massive announcement on Tuesday, October 3, stating that the film now "reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one & only" Big B. Thalaivar 170 also marks Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth's reunion after appearing in the same film nearly 32 years back when they were last seen on the big screen in the nationwide blockbuster Hum (1991) in Hindi.
Amitabh Bachchan had also last collaborated with Rajinikanth by doing the narration for the Hindi version of Kochadaiiyaan (2014) directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. This latest announcement will no doubt get movie buffs and film aficionados everywhere excited considering both stars enjoy a phenomenal fan following across the country and it is indeed going to be a visual treat unlike any other for Indian cinema fans in recent times to watch them set the screen on fire together with their electrifying screen presence. Amitabh Bachchan has joined the cast of Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 170, which already includes several big names among whom are Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
Thalaivar 170 marks the first time Rajinikanth and acclaimed Tamil filmmaker T. J. Gnanavel are teaming up and there are huge expectations for the director to deliver yet another thought-provoking film after his legal drama Jai Bhim (2021) with Suriya. Furthermore, the film will see 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander composing the songs and the background score for a Rajinikanth-starrer for the fourth time after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and the recent blockbuster Jailer, and fans look forward to him once again come out with chart-topping hits songs and a thunderous background score.
