Tamil cinema and television fans were in for a shock on Thursday morning when news began circulating about popular serial and film actor Venu Arvind going into a state of coma and subsequently getting admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. Reports stated that the actor had contracted COVID-19 sometime back and was also diagnosed with pneumonia, while undergoing a brain surgery to remove a tumor, which led to him slipping into a coma. With the news spreading like wildfire on social media, iconic Tamil actress Raadhika Sarathkumar issued a clarification on her Vani Rani mega serial co-star's health condition.
Taking to her Twitter page, Raadhika informed that certain sections of the media had falsely stated that Venu Arvind was in a coma, while adding that she has been in touch with his wife regarding his health. She added that Venu was initially unwell, but is now in a stable condition. Requesting an end to wrong news, Raadhika further asked followers to pray for his speedy recovery. She tweeted, "It’s very sad that the media falsely say that #VenuArvind is in a coma, have been closely following his health with his wife, he was not well, now he is stabilised, a wonderful person, please pray he comes home soon ,sound and healthy.Stop wrong news." Venu Arvind has been a popular name over the years for his small screen appearances having appeared on Sun TV shows like Alaigal, Adugiran Kannan, Vani Rani and Chandrakumari to name a notable few. He has also worked with legendary director K. Balachander on serials like Kadhal Pagadai and Kasalavu Nesam. Apart from his extensive work on television, Venu has also appeared in supporting roles in Tamil films like Alaipayuthey, Ennavale, Narasimha, Vallavan among others.
