Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's unexpected death due to suicide by hanging on June 14 has left fans across the nation in a state of total shock with condolences still pouring in for the popular star who made it big in the world of cinema after humble beginnings. Known prominently across the country for his role as former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sushant had also delivered several notable performances in films such as Kai Po Che!, Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, Sonchiriya, Chhichhore and Drive to name a few and, was set to be seen next in Dil Bechara.
With people close to Sushant still in mourning, news has now come out stating the actor had informed his house help, Laxmi Devi, who works at his father KK Singh's residence in Patna to take proper care of him in light of the coronavirus pandemic. A routine phone call was made by Sushant to his father's house three days back, which gave little indication to anyone that it would be the last conversation between the father and son.
KK Singh had then received another phone call from Mumbai on Sunday as he sat down for lunch thinking it would be his son, but was instead from the Mumbai police to inform him that the young actor had been found dead at his sixth floor apartment in Bandra (West). KK Singh, a retired government servant, had lost his wife many years back and had fallen unconscious upon receiving news of Sushant's death. A family member said, "He is in a state of shock,", with friends and neighbors trying to console Sushant's father.
Many people had gathered at KK Singh's house including Digha BJP MLA Sanjiv Chorusia, who said, "It is a great loss. He was such a talented actor. He was a pride of Bihar. I will urge the Centre to conduct an inquiry into the circumstances leading to death,". Another family member has said that Sushant had called home three days back and spoken with his father while inquiring about his health and informing him not to venture outside during the pandemic.
