Blockbuster Tamil film filmmaker Sudha Kongara Prasad announced on Thursday her arrival on Twitter. The Soorarai Pottru director dropped the big news in her first tweet addressed to social media users and wrote, "Hi. This is my official handle. That's it." Over the past few years, there have been various impersonators on the micro-blogging platform claiming themselves to be the real Sudha Kongara, which she would later deny in official statements addressed to the press. The arrival of the Irudhi Suttru director on Twitter has not only left fans happy, with composer turned actor G. V. Prakash Kumar too going on to express his joy for the same. Sharing her tweet, he wrote, "Welcoming my most favorite person @Sudha_Kongara to Twitter . This is her only official id…. â¨ð«ð".

Sudha Kongara’s popularity shot up after her work in 2020's Soorarai Pottru. Despite skipping a theatrical release due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown, the film garnered high praise on the world stage after it was selected to be one among ten Indian films for screening under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. Although Soorarai Pottru was nominated for an Oscar, it was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards and had also entered the Panorama Section of the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival.
After Soorarai Pottru, Sudha Kongara was announced to be once again joining hands with Suriya for a new film; their second collaboration. The duo will be looking to hit the bullseye once again and this time on the big screen with their upcoming venture, which is reportedly in the very early stages of development.
