Iconic Malayalam actor and politician Suresh Gopi's daughter Bhagya got engaged to entrepreneur Sreyas Mohan on July 16, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The engagement ceremony, which took place at the veteran actor's residence, was an intimate one and was held in the presence of family members and close friends. Photos of the newly-engaged couple from the engagement ceremony were shared by Bhagya on her Instagram Stories, which have since gone viral on social media, with wishes pouring in from all quarters.
Bhagya's fiance Sreyas Mohan, a businessman by profession, is the son of Sreevidya and Mohan hailing from Mavelikkara in Kerala. Although no big details have been revealed about Bhagya and Sreyas' wedding, it is being reported that it will be an intimate ceremony like their engagement ceremony, and will take place at the Guruvayur temple on January 17. After the wedding, the couple will reportedly be hosting a gala reception event at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on January 20. Bhagya is one of the five children of Suresh Gopi and Radhika Nair and is the granddaughter of actress Aranmula Ponnamma. She has four siblings - Lakshmi Suresh, Gokul Suresh, Bhavni Suresh, and Madhav Suresh.
Bhagya was recently in the news after she was trolled and body-shamed for wearing a Kerala saree for her college graduation ceremony. A social media user commented saying, "Congratulations. I'd recommend you should get rid of your Saree and put on some proper Western dress. The problem with Saree is that it's not an attire for those with an excess of Horizontality, compared to Perpendicularity. Western Skirt and Blouse, would make you REALLY SMART." Soon after, Bhagya fired back with a savage response stating, "Thank you for you very valuable opinion that nobody asked for. my horizontality and perpendicularity are none of your concern. I will continue to wear whatever I deem appropriate. If I want to wear my traditional Kerala saree to honour my roots for my graduation ceremony in a foreign country where all Indian students are forced to blend in with the western folk, then that’s exactly what I’ll wear. why don’t you make an effort to mind your own business and not comment on other people’s bodies and outfits, concerned citizen?"
Suresh Gopi, who is best known to Tamil cinema fans for his roles in blockbusters like Ajith Kumar's Dheena (2001) and 'Chiyaan' Vikram's I (2015), was last seen in the Vijay Antony-starrer Thamezharasan released earlier this year. As for his upcoming films, he has several projects lined up in Malayalam that include JSK, Garudan, SG 251, Oru Perumkaliyattam, Chinthamani Kolacase 2, and the long-delayed Ottakkomban.
