Some women, pretty or otherwise, become inseparable from the work of their life by virtue of the dedication they put in. When we honoured Simran - who is inseparable from the history of Tamil cinema's 1990s era - as the Evergreen Empress, just her conduct showed us what it means to be an empress. Looking stunning in a silver colour halter blouse with an orange saree, the leading lady of the 90s came up on the stage a couple of times to give away awards before bagging her own laurel.
We were the most diverted when Simran came onto the dais to honour dance master Brinda, who was presented with the 'Visionary Trendsetter - Dance' award. When called up, the duo walked upstage looking pretty upbeat. We realised what camaraderie is, when the duo looked at each other, cracked a smile and simultaneously broke into a little dance sequence in tune to the song ushering them onstage. Talking about the times they had worked together, Brinda Master remembered the times when Simran was a Godsend for her.
Elaborating on this, Simran herself noted that she had a very deep understanding with Brinda master, wherein she could guess what dance moves Brinda expected of her. There would be little need for explanations, the duo attested. Calling Brinda a soft, sweet person, Simran further elaborated on how the lady was a veritable talent when it came to getting the right moves out of the actors. We enjoyed seeing the girls hug each other and reminisce on-stage, almost oblivious to the crowd that absorbed all the 'girl power vibe'.
