Shazam! Fury of the Gods is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC character Shazam. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Studios, and the Safran Company, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to the 2019 film Shazam! and the twelfth film in the DCEU (DC Extended Universe). After years of being in the works, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is one step closer to arriving on the big screen. On Monday (October 31), director David F. Sandberg took to his official Instagram handle to reveal that the final cut of the sequel is officially finished.
Sharing a snap from the upcoming film that features the superhero in a new Shazam costume landing down in an arena as he holds the magical staff that granted him and his family their powers in the first film with a lightning bolt flashing behind him, capping off the epic shot nicely. He also attached a caption to it that read, "Finished! Now for a little time off. See you in theaters in March! ". Check it out:
In this second installment of Shazam!, Billy Batson and his foster siblings, who also transform into superheroes, will be forced to get back into action and fight the Daughters of Atlas. They will have to stop them from destroying the world and must therefore have to make peace with the Gods because of Billy taking their powers for granted.
The film will feature Asher Angel and Zachary Levi in the titular role, Grace Fulton, Adam Brody, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, D.J. Cotrona, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews reprising their roles. New cast members include Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirre, Lucy Liu, and Djimon Hounsou. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is scheduled to be released on 17 March 2023.
