Samantha has been busy with the promotions of her first big film of 2023, the Telugu mythological drama, Shaakuntalam, which is scheduled to open in cinemas on April 14. The leading South Indian actress has been doing her bit in putting the word out about the upcoming film and has now expressed her support to producer Dil Raju on social media by calling him "the greatest" for being able to "face everything with such positivity" and for making people laugh at his expense. Sharing a video of Dil Raju recreating his speech from the Varisu audio launch, we see the blockbuster producer telling fans how they will get a war instead of fight scenes and dance in the form of Samantha's movements, with the actress clapping with joy as the fans cheer on.
Directed by Gunasekhar and produced by Neelima Guna's Gunaa Teamworks, Dil Raju who is presenting Shaakuntalam under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, has been a major highlight during the promotion events of the film delighting audiences to his speeches and anecdotes. The blockbuster producer became a rage among Tamil cinema fans after his speech at the audio launch of 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu released during Pongal. The family entertainer became a phenomenal box office success earning more than 310 crores in worldwide collections and Dil Raju will be hoping for a similar result with Shaakuntalam, which out as a pan-Indian release in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages as well. Shaakuntalam is based on internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam and revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from Mahabharata, portrayed by Samantha and Dev Mohan. The film also stars Allu Arha, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr.M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Jisshu Sengupta and others, with music composed by Mani Sharma.
