The shooting of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus historical film Ponniyin Selvan is currently happening in Hyderabad Ramoji Roa Film city. The makers have erected some big sets to shoot a few important scenes. It must be noted that the first schedule of this movie happened in Thailand and the unit canned some scenes which involved water in that passage of shoot. The unit then returned to Chennai and after a long break they resumed shoot in Pondicherry for a short schedule, now they are shooting in Hyderabad and they will soon leave for Sri Lanka for a lengthy schedule.
While it is still not sure if lyricist Vairamuthu is part of this historical epic, Ponniyin Selvan has an ensemble cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashwin Kakumanu and a whole host of other supporting stars. Maestro AR Rahman is scoring the music for Ponniyin Selvan, while Ravi Varman is handling the cinematography and Sreekar Prasad is taking care of the editing. This movie is being bankrolled jointly by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
Now actor Riyaz Khan has updated via Instagram that he is in Hyderabad to join the sets of Ponniyin Selvan. This is Riyaz Khan’s first film with ace director Mani Ratnam. Having played villain roles in various films like Rajinikanth’s Baba, Vijayakanth’s Ramana, Prashanth’s Winner, including making notable appearances in Suriya's Ghajini, Masss and last year’s Bhaskar Oru Rascal, it is unknown what part Riyaz Khan will have in Ponniyin Selvan, who has been keeping his fans informed by posting pictures of himself on his Facebook and Instagram pages.
