Rajkummar and Patralekhaa got engaged in a formal ceremony on Saturday at The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in Chandigarh. The couple made their first on-screen appearance together in 2014 Hansal Mehta film CityLights, including featuring on the web series, Bose: Dead/Alive. During a recent episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Rajkummar spoke about his first meeting with Patralekhaa and said that she assumed he was like the character he played in Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010). He said, "Unko laga tha ki yeh aisa hi neech aadmi hai toh mujhse baat nahi kar rahi thi (She did not talk to me thinking that that I was a cheap man, just like my character)". However, he revealed that they got along well once they began talking and the rest is history from thereon. Writing a piece for Humans of Bombay a few years ago, Patralekhaa wrote about her love story: "It was magic. The kind of passion he had was powerful and I couldn't respect him any more than I did then! We spoke about our work, love for cinema, passion... I saw him through his struggles, never giving up. How could we not fall for each other?"
