Last week, leading actor-producer Vishal had filed a complaint with the Chennai police, alleging that veteran Tamil film producer RB Choudary had not returned the cheque leaves, bond papers as well as the promissory notes, months after repaying a loan he had borrowed for his 2018 film, Irumbu Thirai. In his complaint, Vishal had also stated that RB Choudary had not been responding back and was avoiding him for months. The Thupparivaalan 2 actor-director claimed that Choudary had misplaced the documents, with the incident gaining a lot of media attention considering Vishal and the Super Good Films banner chief's son Jiiva are known to share a good rapport with each other.
Addressing Vishal's claims, producer RB Choudary on Friday issued a detailed statement to the press and said, "I had given Vishal's documents to Sivakumar, who passed away unfortunately all of a sudden. As he was unmarried, he was living alone in an apartment. It came to others' attention that Sivakumar had died only a few days back and we are not aware of where he kept the documents. I had also informed the matter to Vishal and I will add that him filing a police complaint is the right thing to do. However, it would have been much better had he met me and we could have submitted a joint complaint."
RB Choudary further added, "I would like to inform you that I have acquired the satellite rights for Thupparivaalan 2 and the principal amount and interest to date are still outstanding. I also want to point out that the reports of me indulging in cheating as per media reports have hurt me quite a lot. Up until now, I have made 92 films across four languages and this is the first time in my forty years experience in this industry that my name has been mentioned in such a complaint. The reason this report is being filed after all this time is because I was out of station. I am now offering this explanation to all and if anybody out there has any of those affidavits from Sivakumar, I urge them to hand them over to me, the police or to Vishal. In the event of any violation, action will be taken."
